Reading and writing are the foundation for lifelong learning and effective communication. Our Reading teachers provide opportunities for individual and small-group instruction, using a variety of techniques to match and enhance the learning style of each student as they work on decoding, including Wilson Reading, the R.E.W.A.R.D.S. program, Edmark and the whole language experience.

Comprehension skills are also targeted using supplementary workbooks and SOL-related materials. Our Writing teachers also provide written expression support in small group and individual situations. Our intensive writing classes expose students to all styles of writing as well as practicing skills such as note-taking, analogies and vocabulary improvement to enhance their writing. |
